Your songs stay on your device

Everything you write in Sahtel (lyrics, chords, shapes, titles and song settings) is stored in your browser on this device. It is never sent to a server. That is also why Sahtel works offline. In Estonian, sahtel is a drawer, and writing into the drawer means writing just for yourself.

Backups are yours

"Back up all songs" saves a file to your device. Sahtel doesn't keep a copy, so keep that file somewhere safe if you want to move songs to another device or recover them later.

No accounts, cookies or advertising

Sahtel has no sign-in, sets no cookies and includes no advertising. The site is hosted on Vercel, which handles the requests your browser makes to load the app, as any web host does.

Visit counts

Sahtel counts visits with Vercel Web Analytics to see how many people use it and where they came from. It records the page address, the referring site, the country, and the browser, operating system and device type. It uses no cookies, and visitors can't be recognised from one day to the next. It never sees your songs, titles or chords.

Error reports

When the app hits an unexpected error, it sends an anonymous error report to Sentry (hosted in the EU) so it can be fixed. A report contains the error, the browser and device type, and which buttons were pressed just before. It never contains your songs, titles or chords, and Sahtel turns off Sentry's session recording and personal data collection.

Feedback

"Send feedback" opens a form hosted by Tally. Only what you type into that form is sent, and leaving an email is optional.

Deleting your data

Deleting a song in Sahtel removes it from this device. Clearing this site's data in your browser settings removes everything Sahtel has stored.
